When Christy asked me to write something for this page I had to give it a lot of thought. How do I sum up someone I've known for most my life in a few sentences while having what I write pertain to her work as a photographer? Well, it turned out I didn't really need to give it all that much thought afterall. Her career makes perfect sense for her. Christy was an art history major in college. She loved the imagery from the past, the play of shadow and light, the compositions, the techniques. And, what's more important, she loved the feeling of the imagery. She didn't just look at a painting and admire it's technical aspects, she felt what the artist was trying to capture. And that's not something just anyone can do, it's a level of empathy that shows in her work as an artist, as a photographer.
After studying art history, Christy was "discovered" and spent years as a model. While modeling in Paris, New York, the Caribbean, and many more places, she developed an incredible sense of what it takes to make an image something more than just "a picture someone took." Combine her art history background, her years of being in front of a camera and learning that aspect of image making, her empathy, her natural talent, and you end up with someone who creats imagery that goes far beyond "taking a picture".
Christy creates images that capture the feelings of her subjects and preserves a brief moment in time for people to enjoy for a lifetime. During her 15 years of being a photographer she's brought smiles and tears of joy to hundreds of families, couples, parents, and more. She's developed quite an outstanding reputation as the "go to" photographer if you want something above and beyond the norm. And, looking at her imagery here on this site it's easy to see why.
